Även om många komiker debuterar publikt med stand-up finns fler vägar att gå för den som är beredd att jobba hårt för att slå sig fram. I och med det växande intresset för podcasts har många komiker gjort sig ett namn med egna program. Därmed har de kunnat skapa en fanbase vilket gör det lättare att kunna ge sig ut på turné i landet. Stand-up kan även vara en språngbräda till TV-jobben. Parlamentet är ett program som rekryterat många av sina deltagare från klubbar som t ex Björn Gustavsson och Soran Ismail. Även humorprogram på radio kan vara ett alternativ för en ståuppare.
